Day -1 Mousehole to Porthcurno

We awoke to brilliant sunshine and enjoyed breakfast with sparkling sea at the bottom of the garden
and views of St.Michael's Mount in the distance.
If today's walking is representative of the rest of the South West Coast path, the next few weeks are going to be a lot tougher than I'd imagined.
The track today was often steep and narrow and sections were vertiginous.
The surface underfoot was varied, often muddy, rocky or overgrown. Parts of the path between Mousehole and Lamorna felt more like boulderingand the changes in altitude were energy sapping making progress much slower that we'd planned.Though we walked only 9 miles on the Coast path today, the total ascent over the day was over 1650 ft.- more than half of Snowdon!!!
Without question, the high point of the day was seeing a pod of whales surfacing and blowing spouts just a short distance off the shore. Wonderful!!
After 7 hours of walking, we eventually called it a day at Porthcurno. Happy and knackered!!

Best of luck to the two of you for tomorrow! Actually today as I write this.
